【意味】DO YOU MIND IF I JOIN YOU?の答え方は？

大学生は夏休み。ということで、今まで見られなかった13 reasons whyをNetflixで見ている。原書も読んだのだが、ドラマのほうが映像があって一段と面白い。このドラマに出てきたフレーズを紹介したいのだが、YouTubeにビデオはないので、別のビデオから探し出し、紹介することにする。

13 reasons whyでもエピソード３（S1）に出てきました。食事を一緒に取るときにClayがHannahに言っていました。このシーンではHannahはこの質問に返答はしていませんでしたが表情や仕草からOKなのは明らかでした。

Mind if I join you?と言ったり、Do you mind if I join you?と言ったりします。以下に例を載せておきます。この時注意したいのがこの質問への答え方です。Do you mind..?で聞かれているので、Not at all.と答えましょうというブログが多い。確かに文法的にはそうなのだが、実際にはこの通りには話さないネイティブも多い。様々な答え方ができます。明らかにYES.と無表情で言わないように心がければ大丈夫です。本当に嫌なときはYES.でももちろんいいですが。
